DIFFERENT TYPES OF FACE MASKS & THEIR BENEFITS

Just like the leaves turn, turn, turn from lush green, to rich hues of amber and gold, when humidity levels drop, so do moisture levels in skin.

In simple terms, skin likes consistency and when the seasons change from summer to fall to winter, skin has to work double-duty in order to maintain adequate hydration as the winds and dry chills kick in.

So, when moisturizer isn’t enough, it’s time to call in the squad – the face masks squad that is.

What Does A Face Mask Do For Your Skin?

Face masks aren’t just an excuse for a movie-binge sesh, rather face masks revitalize, smooth, soothe, and help skin detox impurities.

For example, if skin just needs a little pick-me-up, try our Glowing Skin Apricot Sheet Mask. The scent of delicious apricot will thank you!

On the other hand, when stressed out skin can’t take cope and it feels a bit tired and dry, then check out our Gentle Smoothing Oatmeal Scrub and Mask.

How Often Should I Use A Face Mask?

There’s no one-size-fits-all rule.

A face mask can be used anywhere from once a week, to four-times a week, depending on the type of face mask and skin concern.

Some face masks are made for acne control, others are made for hydration, a few are made for overnight and some are made for daily use.

And yes, there is such a thing as multi-masking!

Multi-masking is when you apply two different face masks back-to-back, where after you take off the first mask you immediately apply the second. For example, a common detox-fighting duo is, first applying a hydration face mask for tired skin, followed by a face mask to refine pores.

There is no set formula, so it really is all about you!

What Are Sheet Masks?

No, they are not for your bed.

But, they are exactly what they sound like: a face mask in “sheet form.”

Made from fibers, cotton, cellulous or often coconut pulp, these face masks – with holes so you can breathe – are wet, soft and cool. Dripping-out-the-pack, because they are infused with a list of superfoods, sheet masks typically are meant to be worn for 10-minutes at a time. (ICYMI: here’s a how-to for sheet mask first-timers.)

One of the unique aspects to sheet masks is that after application, there is no need to rinse – rather, just pat the excess serum into your skin.

For skin that feels tight, flaky and extra-dry we suggest our Revitalizing Açai, Blueberry & Chia Seed Oil Sheet Mask.

Ooh, berry!

Gel Eye Masks, We Totes Swear By Them

Gel eye masks are the latest member of the skincare “in crowd.”

Talk about refreshing, when no amount of concealer is enough, from lack of sleep or a late night, pop on gel eye masks to help reduce puffiness. Not only will they help soothe and hydrate, but, makeup will be easier to apply and boom! you’re wide awake!

Made in smooth, contoured pad shapes, meant to stay-put under the eyes, gel eye masks hydrate the delicate under eye area, and are saturated with concentrated serums packed with loads of extra good stuff.

💡 Ice, ice baby: known for their cooling effects, gel eye masks can also be stored in the fridge for that extra chill

Plus, gel eye masks are excellent choice all year around, think of them as your under eye’s cool dip in the pool during the summer, or glacial lake escape during the winter.

Rehydration at its finest.

What Are Sleeping Masks?

The ultimate treat during sweet dreams, sleeping masks are your new BFF.

Get those Zzzzzzs and let your skin restore itself. Sleeping masks usually come in the form of a night cream and then some , that are specifically designed to go on top of your evening skin treatments as a final step to be rinsed off in the morning.

Due to their potency, nighttime sleeping masks are not suggested for daily use. Rather, a few times a week for optimal results.
